As part of the continuation of the HPS Group’s reorganization implemented on January 1, 2022, the Board of Directors met on February 3, 2022, to approve the creation of a new organizational entity: the “Business Innovation” unit.
Presentation of the Business Innovation Entity
To support its development plan, the HPS Group has decided to structure and establish a dedicated team focused on identifying and developing new business opportunities in the payments industry.
Rapid changes in the payments sector are driving the emergence of new players and business models. The Business Innovation entity will be responsible for designing tailored solutions and offerings based on PowerCARD technology to address these evolving needs.
These new activities will be developed within the Business Innovation entity until they reach maturity, at which point they will be transferred to other Group entities to become new growth drivers.
Key Missions of the Business Innovation Entity
- Identify new growth opportunities in the payments industry
- Develop comprehensive PowerCARD-based offerings to meet identified needs and drive them to maturity
- Transfer mature activities to other Group entities for industrial-scale development
- Identify external growth opportunities to accelerate the launch of new business activities within the HPS Group
Leadership of the Business Innovation Entity
The Business Innovation entity will be led by Garry Ceaplen.
Garry Ceaplen began his career in the payments industry in 1986 when he joined TSB Trustcard, one of the leading card issuers in the United Kingdom at the time.
With over 35 years of experience at Visa, American Express, and various banking institutions, Garry brings deep expertise in the payments industry and a strong understanding of its rapidly evolving landscape.
He served as Chairman of the “Bank Cards” Committee of the Kuwait Banking Association from 2016 to 2018 and was a member of the Visa CEMEA Risk Committee.
As Managing Director of Business Innovation, Garry Ceaplen will also be a member of the HPS Group Executive Committee.
