The failover to the backup site was completed successfully, allowing operations to return to normal.

HPS Switch teams managed the switchover during the night from Saturday to Sunday as announced. Our teams continue to monitor system stability and are conducting an in-depth analysis of the root causes behind the hardware incident.

Hanae Ben Driss, CEO of HPS Switch

“We faced a hardware incident on our main platform, which significantly impacted our switching services and, consequently, the entire payment ecosystem of our country.

We sincerely apologize for the major disruption that directly affected all users of electronic payment methods.

We want to reassure all stakeholders that we are conducting a thorough analysis of the causes and implementing measures to prevent such incidents in the future.”

HPS teams implemented a series of mitigation actions to restore the situation

Saturday, April 23, 2022 — A hardware incident affecting the main switch platform intermittently disrupted payment operations nationwide.

HPS teams implemented a series of mitigation actions to restore the situation by 7:30 PM.

As this incident was not related to the PowerCARD solution but solely due to a hardware failure at the main switch site, a permanent solution was scheduled for deployment during the night by switching all operations to the backup site. This transition was expected to cause temporary disruptions between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM.

The backup site will remain operational until the hardware issues at the main site are fully resolved.

HPS teams are working closely with all stakeholders to minimize the impact on payment activities at the national level.
